Plains coreopsis, garden tickseed, golden tickseed, or calliopsis, Coreopsis tinctoria, is an annual forb. The plant is common in Canada, northeast Mexico, and much of the United States, especially the Great Plains and Southern states where it is often called "calliopsis."

Grows naturally in glades and sandy soil, often in disturbed ground. Once established these plants will not need additional watering! These annuals will reseed as long as there is some open, bare soil in the location.

Directly sow Plains Coreopsis seeds outdoors in spring into a prepared seed bed. Soil should be loosened and weed free. Press the flower seeds into the soil and lightly cover. Keep the seed moist until germination.
