UNIQUE CREEK HOMESTEAD SEEDS: All of our seeds are grown right here on our Unique Creek Homestead and not sourced from elsewhere. All seeds are collected each growing season and are 1-year old or less, stored in air-tight Mason jars. Seeds are harvested and labeled for storage each season, one plant/seed type at a time so seeds do not get mixed by accident during the process! The seeds we use at the start of each growing season come from the exact same seeds we sell!

ABOUT THESE SEEDS: The Chocolate Madame Jeanette chiles ripen from green to chocolate and have citrus floral flavor tones with some degree of sweetness. The heat level is greater than a habanero level. The Madame Jeanette chile plants 2 to 3 feet tall and are very productive. I believe this chocolate version crossed last season with one of my many chocolate SUPER HOT pepper varieties, possibly a Madame Jeanette/Primotalii Chocolate cross from our 2024 season. 
 
Madame Jeanette is a chili pepper cultivar of the species Capsicum chinense, originally from Suriname.
 
Madame Jeanette chilis are very hot, rated 125,000–325,000 on the Scoville scale. The peppers ripen to chocolate, similar to Scotch Bonnet peppers, but are larger and not symmetrical. Its flavor is described as "fruity", with hints of mango and pineapple. Madame Jeanette is used in almost all facets of Surinamese cuisine. The plant is prolific, has relatively compact growth, dislikes cool sites, and will also grow indoors.
 
Sow seeds in flats or pots 8 to 10 weeks prior to the expected outdoor planting date. Sow them shallowly, around 1/4 inch deep. Hot peppers, and especially super-hot peppers, have a well-earned reputation for being finicky to germinate, but you can increase germination rates by providing bottom heat (highly suggested).
