UNIQUE CREEK HOMESTEAD SEEDS: All of our seeds are grown right here on our Unique Creek Homestead and not sourced from elsewhere. All seeds are collected each growing season and are 1-year old or less, stored in air-tight Mason jars. Seeds are harvested and labeled for storage each season, one plant/seed type at a time so seeds do not get mixed by accident during the process! The seeds we use at the start of each growing season come from the exact same seeds we sell.
ABOUT THESE SEEDS: The Queen of the Night tomato is a striking, German heirloom variety from the Rhine region known for high levels of anthocyanin, which creates a dramatic dark purple or near-black skin wherever sunlight hits the fruit.
Fruit Characteristics
Size: Saladette to medium slicing size, weighing roughly 3 to 4.5 ounces (80–150 grams).
Appearance: Features ebony and dark purple shoulders with contrasting splashes of crimson, pink, orange, and gold stripes; the interior flesh is rich red.
Flavor: Opinions on Reddit are mixed; while many describe the taste as rich, sweet, and tangy with a well-balanced flavor, others note it can turn mild or bland depending on growing conditions and ripeness.
Plant and Growing Guide
Habit: Compact, indeterminate vines that typically grow 4 to 5.5 feet tall and benefit from staking or caging.
Sunlight: Requires 6 to 8+ hours of direct sun daily; more sun exposure intensifies the dark anthocyanin pigmentation on the skin.
Harvesting: Ready to pick when the shaded sides shift to deep orange-red and the sun-exposed shoulders turn glossy dark purple-black
Sincerely,
Scott & Melissa
