UNIQUE CREEK HOMESTEAD SEEDS: All of our seeds are grown right here on our Unique Creek Homestead and not sourced from elsewhere. All seeds are collected each growing season and are 1-year old or less, stored in air-tight Mason jars. Seeds are harvested and labeled for storage each season, one plant/seed type at a time so seeds do not get mixed by accident during the process! The seeds we use at the start of each growing season come from the exact same seeds we sell.

ABOUT THESE SEEDS: The HJ10 Afterglow pepper, also known as the Hangjiao 10 After Glow or Chinese Space Chili, is a mild, prolific pepper variety developed by the Chinese space program. It's a Capsicum annuum that produces Cayenne-like peppers, transitioning from green to bright red as they mature. These peppers are known for their vibrant orange color and consistent growth, making them a visually appealing addition to any garden.
Here's a more detailed look at the HJ10 Afterglow pepper:
Appearance:The peppers are elongated, similar to Cayenne peppers, and grow to about 12-15 cm long. They start green and turn a vibrant red when fully ripe.
Flavor:The peppers are described as sweet and mild, making them suitable for various culinary uses.
Heat Level:They have a heat level comparable to a jalapeno, around 6,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU).
Culinary Uses:The HJ10 Afterglow pepper is versatile and can be used in salsa, pickled, salads, or even eaten as a snack.
Growing:The plants are bushy and produce high yields. They thrive in sunny locations. Origin: Developed by the Chinese space agency in the 1980s by sending seeds into space.

Sow seeds in flats or pots 8 to 10 weeks prior to the expected outdoor planting date. Sow them shallowly, around 1/4 inch deep. Hot peppers, and especially super-hot peppers, have a well-earned reputation for being finicky to germinate, but you can increase germination rates by providing bottom heat (highly suggested).
