UNIQUE CREEK HOMESTEAD SEEDS: All of our seeds are grown right here on our Unique Creek Homestead and not sourced from elsewhere. All seeds are collected each growing season and are 1-year old or less, stored in air-tight Mason jars. Seeds are harvested and labeled for storage each season, one plant/seed type at a time so seeds do not get mixed by accident during the process! The seeds we use at the start of each growing season come from the exact same seeds we sell.
ABOUT THESE SEEDS:"Holy Moly" peppers, also known as "Holy Mole," are a type of Pasilla pepper hybrid known for their use in mole sauce and other Mexican dishes.
They are characterized by their nutty, tangy flavor and a mild heat level, typically around 700-1000 Scoville Heat Units.
Key Characteristics:
Flavor: Nutty and tangy.
Heat Level: Mild, around 700-1000 Scoville Heat Units (similar to Poblano or Cubanelle).
Size: 7-9 inches long, slender.
Color: Green when immature, maturing to a dark brown/chocolate color.
Uses: Primarily used for mole sauce, but also great fresh, pickled, dried, or ground into a spice.
Plant Size: Typically 2-3 feet tall and wide.
Growing Tips: Start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost. Space plants 18 inches apart. Provide consistent watering, especially during fruit development. Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer, switching to a high-phosphorus fertilizer when flowering. Harvest when peppers are green or allow them to mature to their dark brown color.
Sow seeds in flats or pots 8 to 10 weeks prior to the expected outdoor planting date. Sow them shallowly, around 1/4 inch deep. Hot peppers, and especially super-hot peppers, have a well-earned reputation for being finicky to germinate, but you can increase germination rates by providing bottom heat (highly suggested).
Sincerely,
Scott & Melissa
