The Rhino DD pepper, a creation of Drax Diego, is a very hot pepper known for its unique shape and potential for high yields. It's believed to have a Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) rating over 1,000,000, similar to a Ghost Pepper, but hasn't been officially tested. The peppers start green and ripen to a vibrant orange, often featuring a stinger-like tail, resembling an elongated Trinidad Orange Scorpion.

Key Characteristics:

  • Heat: Very hot, potentially over 1,000,000 SHU.
  • Appearance: Elongated, orange pods with a stinger-like tail.
  • Flavor: Fruity and sweet, with a notable heat.
  • Origin: Created by Drax Diego.
  • Uses: Ideal for salsas, hot sauces, and marinades.
  • Germination: Can take 10 days to 6 weeks, with some suggesting soaking seeds for 24 hours before sowing for best results.

Growing Information:

  • Planting: Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost, using a seed starting mix.
  • Sunlight: Requires full sun.
  • Soil: Well-draining soil is ideal.
  • Yields: Known for high yields, with plants being compact and suitable for containers.
  • Maturity: Peppers mature from green to orange.

Additional Notes:

  • Handle with care due to the high heat level.
  • Open-pollinated seeds may result in some variation in pod shape and size.
  • Some vendors suggest using heat mats and humidity domes to aid germination.
